Extra Services

I offer the following extra services:

Half-valving:

Add CAD$56 per harp to any order to add half-valving. This applies to custom harps as well as harmonica service. I only use ultra-microfiber material for half-valving.

Half-valving enables extra bent notes on a diatonic harmonica. It is a great option for those who want to play chromatically but prefer to avoid overbends. Half-valving can be an option on any harmonica, no matter how hard or softly you play or even if you use altered tunings.

Retuning:

Every harp I work on is tuned to your liking - that service is included in the price. I offer extra retuning options. Would you like to flatten the 7 draw a half step? Or would you like to convert a Richter harp to a minor-tuned harp? Are you interested in PowerBender tuning? Would you like the pitch of your harp lowered to 432 Hz?

Pricing:
No charge to change the temperament of your harp. (Example, tune a Golden Melody like a vintage Marine Band)
Add $15 per harp for small changes to Richter tuning such as changing the pitch of a single reed.
Add $30 per harp for larger changes to Richter tuning such as changing the pitch of up to five reeds.
Add $50 per harp for radical changes, including swapping reeds such as converting a harmonica to PowerBender tuning.

Please note that for any altered tuning, I will require a complete layout of the notes of every hole and in every key you are requesting. This is done to ensure we both understand exactly what is expected as well as to foster speedy service.

This applies to custom harps as well as harmonica service.
