Metric Taps

Metric Taps

A tap is very useful to clean out the thread of a harmonica that has stubborn-fitting screws. These imperfect threads are usually made by self-tapping screws at the factory. Struggling with these bad threads can lead to over tightening of the screw and warping of the reed plate or striping of the thread.

These are high-quality taps for M2 and M1.6 screws used in every model of diatonic harmonica. Convert a Marine Band 1896 from nails to all-screw assembly. A tap creates a thread into which you can fit a screw. Tapped reedplates are secured to the comb without needing a nut.

The use of a pin vise or tap handle is recommended and is sold separately.
